Post-Op Shoe | Soft Top Surgical Cast Shoe | Men's & Women's | OTC 2096
Hurry up, only 2 items left in stock.
OTC 2096 Soft Top Post-Op Shoe, in men's and women's fittings. A flat, open-topped shoe worn over a dressing, cast padding or bandaged foot while it heals. It replaces the regular shoe that no longer fits — which is usually the problem people are trying to solve when they come looking for one.
What it does
- Semi-rigid sole — limits how far the foot flexes as you walk, so the healing area isn't loaded with every step
- Reinforced heel counter with a padded collar — holds the heel steady and stops the shoe sliding off
- Two adjustable straps — open wide enough to close over bulky dressings, then tighten down as swelling drops
- Soft poly-cotton upper — breathable, with nothing rigid pressing on a tender foot
- Fits either foot — one shoe, left or right, so there's no wrong side to order
When it's used
After forefoot and soft-tissue surgery — bunion and hammertoe corrections, osteotomies — and after breaks and sprains where a full walking boot is more than the injury needs. It's also worn by people with reduced sensation in the feet, where an ordinary shoe can rub without being felt.
Sizing
Choose the men's or women's fitting to match your usual shoe sizing, then order by your normal size in it. The shoe should close comfortably over the dressing with your toes sitting inside the footplate rather than over the front edge. If you're between sizes or the dressing is bulky, go up.
Post-op shoe or walking boot?
A post-op shoe protects and offloads; a walking boot immobilises the ankle as well. Your surgeon's instructions decide which one you need — they aren't interchangeable. If you were told to get a boot, we stock those too.
Not sure which you were prescribed? Bring the discharge paperwork to the showroom or call 604-240-2450 and we'll work it out with you. Same-day delivery across the Lower Mainland.

Why the sole is rigid
A normal shoe bends at the ball of the foot with every step. After forefoot surgery or a break, that bend is exactly what needs to be prevented. The semi-rigid sole holds the foot flat so the healing area is offloaded rather than flexed, which is the main job this shoe does.
Men's and women's fittings
These are separate lasts, not the same shoe relabelled — the women's fitting is cut narrower. Pick the fitting that matches how you normally buy shoes, then order your usual size within it.
Room for the dressing
The two straps open wide and the upper is soft rather than structured, so the shoe closes over a bulky post-surgical dressing on day one and still fits once the swelling has come down and the dressing is smaller.
Either foot
The shoe is universal, so there is no left or right to get wrong when ordering. It is sold as a single shoe, not a pair.
How long it is worn
Usually the two to eight weeks a surgeon specifies, though this varies with the procedure. Follow the discharge instructions rather than a general rule.
Materials & Care

Care
- Spot clean the upper with mild soap and cool water; do not machine wash
- Air dry away from direct heat — heat can deform the sole
- Brush lint and fibres out of the strap fastenings so they keep gripping
- Check the sole for wear and the straps for fraying if it is worn daily
- Do not use over a wet or soiled dressing — change the dressing first
- This is a single-user item and should not be passed on to another person
