Rent before you buy the expensive ones

The homecare bed and both scooters are available to rent. For a recovery measured in weeks, or where you are not yet certain a scooter suits the person and the route they take, renting first is usually the better decision — and we will tell you when we think it is.

Why we buy from Drive

Three practical reasons, rather than the marketing ones.

Parts stay available

A bed or a scooter is a ten-year purchase, and the thing that ends its life early is usually a part nobody stocks. Drive is large enough that castors, motors, hand controls and rails are still orderable years later — which is the whole argument for buying a major brand.

Certified manufacturing

Drive DeVilbiss holds ISO 13485 and MDSAP certification, the quality standards that matter for medical devices. For anything load-bearing — a lift, a bed, a bariatric frame — that is not a detail worth economising on.

One supplier, whole house

A discharge home often needs a bed, a mattress, a commode, a lift and a rollator at once. Sourcing them from one manufacturer means they arrive together, the accessories fit, and there is one number to call when something needs attention.

Buying, renting, or ordering in

Which route makes sense depends on how long it is needed and how sure you are.

Rent it first

  • A recovery measured in weeks rather than years
  • A discharge date that arrived faster than the decision
  • You are not yet certain a scooter suits the route and the person

Buy or order in

  • Long-term or permanent need
  • A therapist has specified an exact configuration
  • Funding is being applied for and the quote must be itemised

Common questions

Lead times, funding, delivery and what Drive actually is.

Can you get any Drive product, or only what is listed?

Any of it. Drive's catalogue runs to roughly 5,000 items and we can order across all of it. What is listed above is what we stock or bring in regularly, because those are the lines Lower Mainland households actually ask for. For anything else, give us the item number if you have one — or just describe the situation and we will find the right product and quote it.

How long does an ordered Drive item take?

Usually one to three weeks depending on the item and whether it ships from Canadian stock. Larger equipment such as beds, lifts and specialty seating takes longer than accessories. We confirm the lead time on the quote, before you commit.

Do you deliver outside Surrey?

Yes. We deliver across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley — Vancouver, North and West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Delta, Langley, White Rock, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission. Beds, lifts and scooters are delivered and set up in the home rather than left in a box.

What is the difference between Drive, DeVilbiss and Inspired by Drive?

They are all part of the same company, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare. Drive is the main durable medical equipment line, DeVilbiss is the respiratory side — nebulisers, oxygen and suction — and Inspired by Drive is the paediatric rehab range. Inovo is the oxygen concentrator brand. Ordering from any of them goes through the same channel.

Will extended health or Ministry funding cover a bed or a lift?

Sometimes, and it varies by program. MSP generally does not fund mobility or homecare equipment. Funding tends to come through Ministry programs (BCEA/PWD), extended health plans, ICBC or WorkSafeBC. The critical rule is that approval must come before the equipment is purchased — buying first and claiming after is the most common reason applications fail. We provide itemised quotes with item numbers for these applications.

Can I see a bed or scooter before buying?

Yes, and for anything at this price you should. Come to the showroom at 12987 80 Ave in Surrey, sit in the chair, try the scooter, see how low the bed actually goes. Measure your doorways first and bring the numbers — a bed that will not turn into the bedroom is an expensive problem to discover on delivery day.

Is there a warranty, and who handles it?

Drive warrant their equipment, with terms varying by product line — frames are typically covered longer than electronics and upholstery. We handle claims and parts for anything bought from us rather than sending you to the manufacturer.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Our in-house financing is 0% interest with no credit check, split over 3, 6 or 12 months with a 10% deposit — which is how most people manage a bed or a scooter. You can estimate payments on our payment calculator.

Tell us the situation, not the item number

Most people calling about a bed or a scooter do not know which model they need, and that is fine. Describe who it is for and where it has to go, and we will narrow the Drive catalogue down to the one or two worth quoting.
