Hospital bed & wheelchair rental in Coquitlam

Most Coquitlam families who call us need something for a few weeks or months, not forever: a hospital bed after surgery, a wheelchair while a fracture heals, a commode for the first nights home. So this page is about renting properly: what is included, what it costs, and how it works from Burke Mountain down to Maillardville.

  • Same-day delivery
  • Setup & pickup included
  • Month-to-month

Medical equipment to rent or buy in Coquitlam

Rentals lead in Coquitlam, so they lead here too. Everything is also available to buy.

What a hospital bed rental actually costs

A full electric hospital bed rents for $399 a month, and a medical-grade pressure mattress is $80 a month. Safety rails are not charged separately. Delivery, setup in the room you choose, and pickup at the end are all included. Rentals are invoiced monthly, plus 12% tax. Call for wheelchair and other rental rates. They depend on the model and how long you need it.

How a rental works in Coquitlam

Four steps from the phone call to pickup.

1

Call or send the OT list

Tell us what the hospital or therapist asked for. If it came as a list from Royal Columbian or Eagle Ridge, send us a photo and we will match it.

2

We check the home

Two questions before we load the truck: which floor the bed goes on, and whether a building has a service elevator we need to book.

3

Same-day delivery and setup

We carry it in, assemble it in the room you choose, and show whoever is caring for them how the controls and brakes work.

4

Keep it, swap it or call pickup

Month to month. If needs change, we swap to different equipment. When you are done, call and we collect it.

Two kinds of Coquitlam home, two different setups

Where you live changes how we deliver and where the bed should go.

Burke Mountain, Westwood Plateau & Ranch Park houses

  • Many homes are two or three storeys with the bedrooms upstairs. For a recovery, a bed on the main floor near a bathroom is usually safer than climbing stairs.
  • Steep driveways and front steps: we bring the bed in sections and can suggest a threshold ramp for the wheelchair.
  • Leave about 3 feet clear on one side of the bed and an outlet near the head end.

City Centre, Burquitlam & Lougheed towers

  • Book the service elevator with your building manager or strata if you can. A hospital bed goes up in sections, but it still needs the elevator for a few trips.
  • Measure the tightest corridor turn and bedroom door. We will tell you if a standard bed fits.
  • In a smaller condo, a transport chair and a commode often matter more than a full-size wheelchair.

Rent or buy?

We will tell you honestly which one makes sense.

Rent when

  • It is a recovery with an end date: surgery, a fracture, a hospital stay
  • You are not sure yet what will work, and want to be able to swap
  • You want delivery, setup and pickup handled for you

Buy when

  • You expect to need it for more than about six months. Past that point, buying usually costs less than renting
  • 0% in-house financing over 3, 6 or 12 months, 10% deposit, no credit check
  • Try it first at the Surrey showroom

Frequently asked questions

Hospital bed and wheelchair rental in Coquitlam.

How much does it cost to rent a hospital bed in Coquitlam?

A full electric hospital bed is $399 a month and a medical-grade pressure mattress is $80 a month, plus 12% tax. Delivery, setup and pickup are included and safety rails are not charged separately.

Can I get a hospital bed delivered in Coquitlam today?

Usually, yes. We deliver and set up the same day across Coquitlam, and we are open 24/7. Call 604-240-2450 and we will give you a time.

Can I rent a wheelchair in Coquitlam for a week?

Yes. Wheelchairs and transport chairs can be rented short term. Call us with the dates and the person's hip width, and we will confirm the right size and the rate.

Wheelchair or transport chair: which do I need?

If the person will push themselves, you need a wheelchair with large rear wheels. If someone else will always push, a transport chair is lighter and easier to lift into a car. Read the full comparison.

Can you have equipment ready for a discharge from Royal Columbian or Eagle Ridge?

Yes, and we prioritise discharge calls. Tell us the discharge date and time and we will have the bed and anything else in place before the person gets home. We are not affiliated with either hospital or with Fraser Health.

Does MSP cover medical equipment in BC?

MSP generally does not fund mobility or home medical equipment. Funding usually comes through Ministry programs (BCEA/PWD), extended health plans, ICBC or WorkSafeBC. The Ministry requires a prescription and pre-approval before purchase. How to apply.

Can I spread the cost if I buy?

Yes. We offer 0% in-house financing over 3, 6 or 12 months with a 10% deposit and no credit check. Work out your payments.
