The mounting bracket that attaches a head support pad to a wheelchair back. The multi-axis joint lets the pad be adjusted for height, depth and angle, so the head support can be set exactly where the user's head actually rests instead of where the bracket happens to point.
Why the adjustment matters
Head position is rarely neutral. A user may hold the head slightly forward, tipped back, or turned to one side, and a fixed bracket forces the pad to meet the head at the wrong spot. Being able to move the pad in several planes is usually the difference between a head support that gets used and one that gets pushed out of the way.
